Coaching via TrainingPeaks

The starting point for most athletes is joining some sort of training group or team. Athletes benefit and improve by developing general aspects of the sport with these groups but there is a limit to what group training can accomplish. At some point, athletes seeking to progress beyond an entry level of competition need individualized training to address individual needs, and more specifically, to address individual weaknesses.

Athletes win on their strengths, but lose because of their weaknesses.

All Coaching Levels Start With These Two Components

Goal Setting Meeting

An in-person meeting where both the athlete’s training and racing history is reviewed and short, intermediate and long term goals are established. The meeting results in a weekly training template recommending appropriate TOEST & TOETT programs along with training sessions that are to be performed independently by the athlete.

Training Log Review

Even with goals established, consistent training in the context of life (e.g. career, business, family) is challenging. Knowing how, when, and by how much to adjust training to progress an athlete towards their goals without compromising on physical, mental, or emotional health is the benefit to ongoing reviews of your training log.

The Difference Between Levels Is In The Amount of Follow Up Time

Follow Up Online

Adjustments to physical training plans can be made easily via email or online platforms; but the number of adjustments grows as athletes train more hours per week. The greater the training time the greater the number of variables that have to be managed, hence the more time needed to monitor and adjust an athlete’s training.

Follow Up In Person

Adjustments to training plans can be made via technology, but making the critical adjustments to mindset, attitude, and narratives – the true limiters of performance – requires athlete and coach to meet: at the Health level athlete and coach meet annually, Sport level meets semi-annual to quarterly, and Performance level athletes are met with as frequently as needed.

Additional Notes

TOETT does not provide refunds due to the amount of work (in the background) that it takes to review training logs and to perform the necessary preparatory work ahead of consults. The commitment our coaches make to athletes will not be compromised by those who want to ‘test out’ services, or who want to change their minds at will; our desire is to coach and only coach athletes who are as committed to their goals as we are to them.
